本書蒐集、譯註日治臺灣時期的醫療、公衛重要史料及文獻，是研究日治臺灣醫療公衛史極其重要的必備書。內容共分三部分：第壹部，譯註堀內次雄、丸山芳登撰寫之〈臺灣醫事衛生年表〉，記述當時醫療、公共衛生重要大事之經緯。第貳部，譯註最重要的史實紀錄，即丸山芳登的大作──《日治時期臺灣醫療公衛業績》，詳實記載各項調查、統計成果，完整呈現當時醫療、公衛之整體面貌。第參部，編者精心選譯當時具關鍵意義的醫療、公衛的法規與文獻，是深入了解日治臺灣醫療公衛政策理念與想法的重要參考資料。

 
This book compiles and translates important Taiwanese historical medical and public health documents during the period under the Japanese rule. The content is divided into three parts: the first part includes the annotated translation of "Chronology of Medical and Sanitary Affairs in Taiwan" written by Horiuchi Tsuguo and Maruyama Yoshito. The second part consists of the annotated translation of Maruyama Yoshito's Achievements in Medical and Public Health in Taiwan during the Japanese Rule" with detailed accounts of investigations and statistical results at that time. The third part is a selected translation of significant medical and public health related regulations and documents, serving as an important reference guide to the historical development of the medical and public health policy. 
 

張秀蓉

1965年畢業於臺大歷史系，1968年取得碩士學位後赴美國伊利諾大學研究，專長為近代歐洲社會經濟史、香港史、臺灣史史料研究等，曾任臺大歷史系教授、系主任及臺大陳維昭校長特別助理。任教期間先後往布朗大學、普林斯頓大學、劍橋大學、香港中文大學等校訪問研究。退休後，致力於臺灣醫療公衛史研究。現為臺大醫院顧問。
