奈米科技,即指應用介於1nm至100nm間物質的特性所衍生的創新科技。1959年美國著名物理學家費曼提出以人為方法,重新安排原子成為具有新物理性質的奈米尺寸結構以供我們製作超微小新器件的概念。近幾年來奈米科學和科技進步神速,觸及領域也非常廣泛,諸如化學及材料、電子及通訊、生物及醫學產業都將受益於奈米科技的研究。

《奈米科技交響曲─物理、化學、生物》此套書即為行政院國家科學委員會所主導的奈米國家型科技計畫所推動之「奈米科技人才培育」分項計畫之產出,由建國中學、北一女中參與計畫的教師執筆,範圍涵括三大領域,深入淺出介紹奈米尺寸、奈米材料、奈米催化劑、光子晶體、顯微技術對奈米科技的影響......等科技新知,更利用實際操作以及與學校師生的互動而發展出簡易的奈米科技實驗,兼具趣味與奈米科技的相關新知識。
