Most people are familiar with the ABO and Rh blood groups. However, human blood types are more diverse and complex than these two classifications suggest. ABO and Rh are only 2 of the 48 human blood group systems identified to date.

Decoding Human Blood Groups was written by a Professor of Biochemical Sciences at National Taiwan University, after 3 decades of research on human blood type genes. A long devoted to the field of basic science, the author explores the study of human blood groups, an area closely intertwined with clinical medicine that he describes as a treasure trove. Drawing on his expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology, the author offers readers a comprehensive account of blood groups, the most prominent and clinically significant form of human polymorphism.
