This book, compiled by ICLP lecturers, features chapters analyzing Taiwan from the perspectives of ethnicity, economics, politics, technology and its natural environment that provide advanced-level Chinese learners an in-depth understanding of the past, present and future of the local society written in a very accessible style. Every chapter includes an essay accompanied by a listening comprehension section on related topics that is similar to a podcast. Both reading and listening parts come with vocabulary lists, English definitions and pinyin pronunciation of the terms, and grammatical explanations. The main text and vocabulary section have their own audio files so that learners can both read and listen to them.
